Small businesses are the heart of any community. Wellington and the surrounding areas have thriving small business communities, and the Greater Wellington Chamber is the core support for the diverse membership. The heartbeat of the Greater Wellington Chamber is its Executive Director, Michela Green, and all the individuals who comprise the Chamber. I am honored to serve as the GWC President from now through early 2026, and I am committed to working alongside our Executive Director, the Board, Committees, and the membership at large to continue and expand upon the success achieved during my stewardship.
I am often asked why join the Chamber, or what the Chamber does. While we all understand a chamber to be a group of local businesses, I have come to realize it is much more than that label. To better describe what I believe the Chamber does, I can only share my personal experience and hope you find something relatable.
I joined the Chamber to learn what’s going on in my community. What I received as a result of my curiosity was being introduced to a diverse group of interesting, intelligent, and passionate people who shared a common goal. I have access to a deep resource of information that is available to me at any time I need it. I became aware of the importance of supporting local businesses. I have received an education in my town that I would have never gained had I not been welcomed by all of the folks of the Greater Wellington Chamber. The Chamber has served me more than I had imagined, and I only hope I can reciprocate.
The Greater Wellington Chamber is not only as successful as its membership, but it will stand for you when your business life is not as expected. My Message as President is to instill the notion in both current and future members to keep an open mind and join, and more importantly, participate, without expectations of what a Chamber “does,” but instead let all the possibilities unfold and see where it leads.
I am looking forward to working with the insightful leadership and our business owners to keep the Greater Wellington Chamber as a reliable resource for you and your families. So I hope to see you at the next luncheon, committee meeting, at your business, or the ever-popular Winterfest and Flavors.
