The Equestrian Committee is dedicated to commerce, specifically connecting the commerce between the equestrian community and Wellington community. The goal of the Equestrian Committee is to increase economic and social interaction between the Wellington equestrian community and the Wellington business community, and Wellington residents overall.
The committee’s purpose is to help coordinate, facilitate, and promote Wellington equestrian events to increase economic benefits for all Wellington Community members equestrian or not.
The committee mission statement summarizes the committee’s purpose:
“To create a working bridge between Wellington Chamber Members and the Equestrian Community through such pathways as Leadership, Advocacy and Education.”
Wellington is home to two of the top equestrian venues in the U.S. and many would say, two of the top equestrian venues in the world. As a result, Wellington is also home to a significant number of world-class, high caliber equestrian events, providing some of the best competition and best entertainment the horse world has to offer.
The International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) is largest and most successful high goal polo club in the U.S. IPC is a world-class polo club designed by and for Polo players, to showcase the finest the sport has to offer. Spectators are always welcome and there are many events where everyone can enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and the sport of polo.
The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) is considered the most recognizable equestrian sporting venue in America today. Its 500-acre “Equestrian Lifestyle Destination” nestled in the heart of Wellington’s 8,000-acre equestrian paradise, plays host to the Olympic trials, World Cup events, the Nation’s Cup, major Grand Prix competitions and one of Palm Beach County’s most successful charity events – The Great Charity Challenge.
Those two venues attract world class and Olympic caliber riders and horses to Wellington. Wellington is to the Equestrian world as Wimbledon is to tennis or as Augusta National is to golf. However, many Wellington residents do not realize the scope of the facilities or the competitions taking place right here in their own back yard.
Our goal is to increase the visibility of these events and to demonstrate how we can all benefit from one another. According to a 2007 analysis commissioned by the Wellington Equestrian Alliance, the economic impact of the polo and equestrian industry is over $500 million annually.
As a result of those top venues, Wellington has grown into one of the premier horse havens in the world. Wellington rivals Ocala FL and Lexington KY as horse destinations. In the Wellington “Equestrian Preserve”, you’ll notice everything from regular horse barns, to $1 to $5 million barns that could easily grace the cover of Architectural Digest. These barns and residences impact and increase the value of all of Wellington’s real estate.
The equestrian lifestyle – horses, the beautiful outdoors, elaborate barns, top notch sites, and world class equestrian athletes make Wellington one of the most unique and desirable locations in America.
We will work to make sure the Wellington chamber members, the business community, and our residents know what is going on so we can take advantageous of the wonderful events here in Wellington.
